Institute of Molecular Biology
Head: Peter Loidl

The Institute of Molecular Biology is responsible for training medical students in microbiology and infectious disease control, molecular biology and epigenetics. We are also engaged in teaching students of the faculty of biology of the Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck in molecular biology and microbiology.

The research of the institute is devoted to various topics of molecular biology, including molecular microbiology, chromatin biology and epigenetics, regulation of gene expression in lower eukaryots, and environmental microbiology. Several research teams try to keep an internationally recognized position within this research field.
