Division of Molecular Pathophysiology
Head: Reinhard Kofler

Research
The Division of Molecular Pathophysiology (DMP) aims at a better molecular understanding of fundamental biological processes with the ultimate goal to apply this knowledge to improve therapy and diagnosis of human diseases. Specifically, we investigate apoptosis (Kofler) and cell cycle control (Geley). A recent addition to our division is the Applied Bioinformatics Group (Rainer) that supports our high throughput analyses and the Expression Profiling Facility of the Medical University Innsbruck (http://bioinfo.i-med.ac.at/epu), which is also attached to our Division. Our Division participates in the research program Oncotyrol and the MCBO graduate college.

Teaching
The Division further participates in various teaching programs of the MUI (basic medical school, MD/PhD program), the LFU (PhD program), the AZW (courses) and the UMIT (bachelor and master projects). Furthermore, we are part of the "Molecular Cell Biology and Oncology" training program (MCBO).

Research Groups
The Division consists of three research groups:
